Gerard Van Acker holds board positions with several (non) listed companies since 2001. From 1980 to 2000, Gerard was CEO and President of the Executive Committee of GIMV, Belgium’s leading private equity house with a presence in a number of European countries. He has held director positions in a number of leading listed Belgian companies including Barco, Telenet, Besix Group, Kinepolis Group and Carestel and in investment companies. In the Life Science sector, he was one of the founders and vice chairman of PGS International, chairman of Biotech Fonds Vlaanderen and member of the board of directors of two US companies, Corvas Int’L and Ceres Inc. He is still member of the board of a leading research institute in Belgium, Imec (a research institute in the field of nanotechnology and micro-electronics).Till last year,he was a board member of VIB (Flanders Institute if Biotechnology). He holds a doctor’s degree in Law and a master’s degree in Political and Administrative Sciences and has taken up important functions within governmental organizations.
