UniD Manufacturing is developing and manufacturing micro-implants.

UniD Manufacturing is a spin-off of EyeD Pharma that was launched to valorize the highly specialized production process developed in-house. Besides handling production for EyeD Pharma, UniD Manufacturing is poised to become a leading contract development and manufacturing company (CDMO) of micro-implants.

Upon realizing that the market lacked the capabilities required to manufacture micro-implants for sustained drug release, EyeD Pharma started building its own specialized equipment and production line. As Mélanie Mestdagt, CEO of UniD and EyeD, explains “There was no equipment on the market to manufacture implants at a micrometer dimension, so we built it ourselves. Our goal is now to not only use these manufacturing capabilities for EyeD’s products, but also make them available to partners.” The company is currently constructing a new 6,250 m2 plant in the Science Park of Liège, which will be inaugurated early 2022.
